Has anyone seen/tried these attachments I've seen advertised for the rotary floor machines? They claim to remove paint and coatings, mechanically profile and even polish (to a degree). If that actually worked, it would seem to me that this set up would be considerably cheaper than a $10,000.00 HTC (for example). So, are these claims possible?...or is it all smoke and mirrors?

If we are talking about the same machine, we just used one to do my showroom. We used it to open up the floor and my friend polished a small area with it. I'll talk to him tomorrow and get the name of it. It worked just fine, can't remeber what he paid will ask. I just wrote it down in my book so I can't forget like usual.

Talked to my friend today and he said its a Kut-Rite planetary and he paid about $4,100.00 for it. I believe it was a used one. We also used a floor machine of his that is for polishing stone, its very heavy and has an extra strong gear box because of this weight. He can also add about 75 pounds in weight if needd but he has never neded to use it and we definitely did'nt need it for this floor. With the weight of this machine and 60 grit sanding screen, it was removing some stuff. Because we were staining the foundation we used the screens to speed up the process since we could'nt get those low spots that would have taken a longer time with the planetary.
