Hi guys! I guess this is the correct thread for this It's another odd request I've gotten. This guy contacted me through one of my Kijiji ads. He's got a 1200sqft floor in a pharmacy. It's got carpet and tile on it now. Anyway, he wants to strip that stuff off and have me "do" some sort of application on his floor. We're just in the preliminary stages of communication, but from what I understand, he's somehow affiliated with this Molecular-Tech Coatings and says he'll prep the surface with their EFS 2500 stripper. He also says that he can supply the 2 part epoxy if I want. This seems odd to me. I've never heard of this product or manufacturer before. Have any of you? I intend to continue communicating with this guy as it may actually pan out to be a job...any suggestions? I've included a link to the M-TC site. www.m-tc.com/

I just visited there website/link. Reviewed their products. Personally I have never heard of them. From the product blurbs/summaries I read ...
Their epoxy is a standard 100% solids (as to resin content), VOC free epoxy, which have been on the market for 30+ years (nothing special); all 100% solids/VOC free industrial flooring epoxies typically meet USDA/FDA criteria; of course all 100% solids epoxies are NOT created equal; therefore, the only way to gain insight into their epoxies actual physical properties would be to review their technical data/specification sheets and MSDS (comparing them to other know/proven high performance industrial flooring epoxies).
They also have a water based urethane (as do most sealer manufacturers/formulators), along with other coatings/sealers.
There are also many environmentally safe, non-hazardous, green friendly strippers on the market that do not contain any hazardous chemicals. Again, would have to see the tech data/specifications to evaluate/provide insight ... is probably one of the citrus or soy based ones.

Sounds good but I wonder why he himself is'nt applying it. Just read it again, maybe he can get a good deal on the materials. I would say to make sure you let him know you don't know how this product holds up and you have not used these specific ones and you are most comfortable with x product. So you can't guarantee anything but your workmanship. With all that understood and in writing, go for it. Plus whatever this stripper stuff is make sure its all up before applying anything. Goes without saying, just a reminder.

I told him that I was comfortable with the materials I was using but also that I was interested in new products. I haven't heard back from him.
