Well, it's trick or treat time again. Got to go get candy to give out tonight ...to those that are brave enough to come to my door. My male Golden Retriever (Jake) gets really spooked by kids in costumes ... he is normally such a docile/friendly dog, but he turns into a fierce drooling hyper vampire, with the ruff of hair on his neck standing up, looking like a holy terror that is going to attack all those that knock on the door (this is the only time of the year that he acts like this). Some kids run off, down the sidewalk, not waiting for candy, never to be seen again ... other, brave it out and stand back while I pass out treats. I have a heavy duty gate between my wood front door and full glass storm door ... since if I have the wood door open he knows how to hit the latch with his foot to open it ... of course the gate doesn't look like much as far as keeping a very large dog in, but it does really work to keep him from opening the door to follow the mailman down the street/etc.

Yep...Halloween again. I used to love it when I was a kid and when my boys were younger. I live just outside of town on a street with only 6 houses...not prime pickin's for the kids. It's all over now, I'd say, and we've had a grand total of 3 trick or treaters. It's very anticlimatic for us now ...but there is an upside! You guessed it...I get to eat the leftover treat. Heh,heh. I was a Boy Scout and the motto "Always be prepared." has stuck with me so I ask Sandy (wife) to be certain we'll have enough to give out. Ya never know when we'll have a big year. Smart huh? HeeHee! I think that Jake is just taking part and having fun with the "celebration" Lindy. He's a smart boy and has his scarey face on too. ;D
