It's a quite evening at the workshop and our hero is practising his staining technique to unwind and to keep his finely honed skills...well ahhh, finely honed. The golden silence is broken by the ringing of the telephone. The caller is a distraught lady, her home has no curb appeal. After all of their hard work and expense there was still something missing. It seems that she had confided her embarrassing plight to a close friend. She was reaching out in her desperation for the solution. Fortunately, her friend happened to be one of the many satisfied clients of the 'Crete Crusader and gave her the telephone number. Sensitive to the situation and driven to help the Crusader asked some questions to assertain the severity of the problem.
"Well ma'am, is there concrete in place now?"
"Yes (sniff) yes there is...and it's so...so...plain. We've seen driveways and walkways done in paver stones and they look so much better. Do you think that's what we should do?"
" Could I ask your name ma'am?"
" Certainly. My name is Patty Smith and my husband is Bill."
" OK, thank you. Mrs. Smith I know that your concrete looks bad to you now, but there are still so many options. You have the basics in place now and a concrete driveway is so much safer and more durable than paver stones. Mainly because it's monolithic...all one piece. Surely, you've seen paver stone driveways after weeds sprout between the stones and they become loose? Not to worry Mrs. Smith...you have many options. How old would you say your concrete is? Is it cracked or broken or is it in pretty good shape?"
"I'm not sure how old it is. It looks old and dirty...I would guess that's it must be 10 years old. Is it too late? Am I too late? There are a couple of small cracks, but it's not broken. Do you think you can help us?"
" Don't worry ma'am. It's not too late, of course we can help you. You've done the right thing calling me. We're trained, licensed, insured and have all of the proper equipment to bring this problem to an end for you. You've got the basics in place and this sounds like a case of indecent exposure caused by naked concrete. We'll be there tomorrow to inspect the situation and give you a free written quote with our professional recommendations. In the meantime, you and your husband think about and discuss what you would like your driveway and walkway to look like. You could even go online and browse the many pictures on the Concrete Network website for inspiration. Don't worry Mrs. Smith we'll get you through this."
After arranging a time for the following day when both Mrs. and Mr. Smith could be present the Crusader hung up the phone.
Stay tuned for the continuing saga of The 'Crete Crusader. What can I say?...I have a lot of time on my hands and it's late. Feel free to jump in and add to the story if you want.
More tomorrow.
