Yep. The time is here again...World Of Concrete in Las Vegas. I expect that our good friend Lindy will be there as always and I also know of a couple more people who will be attending. Sure wish I could...I haven't made it to one yet. It would be great for whoever does attend to share some stuff with us...pix, info, new products/techniques, anything. I hope a great time is had by all! ;D

Actually this is the FIRST time I have missed WOC in at least 15+ years. My mother had surgery yesterday/4th, so I had to be here for her (take her to/from surgery and stay with her for 24 hours afterward). A couple of weeks ago, my grandfather had a mild stroke on one side, so he is temporarily staying with me until I feel he can be on his own at home again. "Family comes FIRST with me, WOC will be there next year/etc.
I have spoken to a few contractors (friends) that are there by phone, along with receiving a few couple of emails; I also know a few of the head honchos that put the WOC show on and several manufacturers ... they have all echoed that just as expected the attendance is down about 50% over past years due to the dire economy ...those that have money are holding onto it, not knowing how long it has to last; and those who don't have money are just trying to survive in this inhospitable economic climate.

Family absolutely comes first! I sure hope that your Mother and Grandfather both recover well and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers. WOC won't know what to do without you Lindy...I'm sure you'll be missed. As you say, though, it will be there next year and so will you. Dennis from Iowa is there and I'm certain that he'll be looking for you. I got a message from him saying that attendance is down...understandable. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you're lookin' after the others Lindy.

Howdy Everybody I had the pleasure of going to WOC for the first time last week. It was very impressive with all the products and displays. I was told it was down around 20% on venders and visitors this year. The economy was felt there as well as many construction jobs were stopped and many hotel and casino workers were laid off or on a call basis for work. Last year was slow for me but this year so far has been good as I have 6 large jobs booked 1000 sq ft and over. I could only go up from last year so I am not looking for a real busy year but better then last year for me anyway. Hope things get better for all. I have some industrial coatings people bidding on some of the residential jobs as normally they would not even consider them. They must be slow as well. I stopped by to see Lindy and you were not there, I had e-mailed you with no response so I was concerned about your well being. Your constituents assured me you were OK and that you guys had a ice storm and maybe thats why no return message. I am glad you are fine and sorry about your Mother. I hope she has a speedy recovery. See ya next year maybe!! Maybe someday we all could meet there! ;D

I guess that it's to be expected that the shakey economy would affect trade shows like WOC. It's awesome that you've got projects lining up...line 'em up and knock 'em down! Heh,heh. Wouldn't it be a blast for the group of us to meet at a function like that? Who knows...maybe next year? ;D

Dennis ...
I received a couple of emails from you prior to the show, answering them both promptly. I did have a few intermittent off/on days where my Texas Internet server (lynn@texasinternet.com) kept coming up then going back down, was down completely for a couple of days. They assured me that no inbound mail was being "bounced back" or "not delivered to me" (as they got their equipment up it would all filter to me). Keep in mind that you can always use my other email address as well, which is on a totally different server/provider (Grande Communications; cable, tv, high-speed combo package): lynn@goldenlook.com.
Next time you think I am MIA or not receiving/responding to an email message, give me call ... you should have all my numbers.
Sorry didn't get a chance to meet you. I did "reply" back to your email about WOC, telling you that this would be the 1st year that I wouldn't be attending due to my Mother's surgery. Had no idea you didn't receive the message since it was not returned to me undelivered. Oh well, that's cyberspace for you, which is why our old reliable friend "the telephone" comes in handy. Glad you enjoyed the show; if you go next year, will look forward to meeting you then.

Lindy
I sent mail to both address and only one came back with a message I don't remember which one it was. No big deal I was worried, you had to have a good reason why I didn't hear from you. I hope all will be OK and that you are fine. Looking forward to next year. I should of called you but I didn't want to bother you and when you weren't there I was very concerned but they assured me you were fine.

Today I am having some sort of strange intermittant problem with sending mail on my Texas Internet server again ... about 1/2 of what I have sent out has bounced back to me as "returned mail." I called my server; they told me that they were on top of it, should be remedied soon. I got a phone call today from a contractor that said he had emailed 4 times today and it kept bouncing back to him; however, I have had a great deal of mail come in and go out today with no problem as well (I know this since some of the email messages were replys back and forth with same person.
I have 3 active email address on 2 different servers; they are... lynn@goldenlook.com and Lindy.Ausburne@gmail.com (these are on one server on my laptop computer) ... forlynn@texasinternet.com is on a different server on my desktop.
As I said, you can always use the phone and give me a ring. My numbers are: 254-714-2502 or 214-230-1347 (my direct line office numbers) or cell phone 254-498-6635.
