You know what they say ,"A picture is worth a thousand words." I find that nothing rings more true in this biz than that statement. Pictures of completed work to "hook" the potential clients and then, more importantly (I think), pictures to close the deal...pictures of what we will do for them. There's lots of ways to produce these pictures...I usually end up doing them a few ways #1 The depiction software that's available now...it's great...you take a digital pic and can put colors and patterns in place for your clients to choose from. #2 I draw a plan...like a drafted layout with borders and patterns shown as they would be. #3 I also do a conceptual drawing with the whole scene, color and all. It can be a bit tedious at times, but I really can't seem to get away from it. Not all customers require this much work, but there are a lot that truly cannot picture things in their minds. Also, I've had some that find the software depictions "cartoonish" and so that leads to the conceptual drawing. I was just wondering what others do to close the deal. Also, how much of this work is too much when you're doing it for free in hopes of getting the job?

To add photos, set up a photobucket account, upload the desired photos into your account, copy by clicking on the IMG code and paste (ctrl + V) it into your message and it will show up just like this:

I totally agree,Photos are the way to go.I carry my portfolio on every estimate.Even though many customers can view your photos on your website, it is much more personal when you go over the different designs with them.I have been engraving for 8 years now and have seen design trends change over the years so it is important to keep the photos updated.I have 3 estimates to give tomorrow and will have my book, measuring wheel and calander with me.

Thanx for jumpin' in and pass on our link so we can get some more folks on board.

Do you offer any other services? He does but according to the terms of use for the board I'm not allowed to tell you about it ;D I hear he's not good at that side of his biz tho Ok I'll quit bustin his chops, I do just like he does. Bring in the pics, nail down a pattern, pic a color and like your other thread says - listen and make sure you cover all concerns!
