Hi guys. I feel so foolish for not posting this until now. I'm sure you've heard about the tragic accident that happened to one of our colleagues, J.R. Litehiser. I read the report on the site this morning and that man is incredibly strong. He is improving. I'm posting the link so you can keep up to date with his progress, post a message of support to his loved ones and even donate to the fund that's been set up to help them through this. www.caringbridge.org/visit/jrlitehiser

I have been getting daily updates since JR was first hospitalized from Caring Bridge on JR condition. He has had his ups and downs, times when there was more darkness than light in relation to infections and other life threating hurtles, dozens of major surgical procedures, was in a drug induced coma/sleep for several weeks, and on a respirator full time.
Latest reports over the past week are reporting great progress toward recovery, although it will be a very long road. Last week he stood up for 6 minutes, was taken off the respirator during the day, was wheeled out to the hospitals sunporch for some fresh air, kissed his wife/Jenny for the 1st time (report said he was planning more kisses :>), ate puddling (first food) and drank gatorade. He is able to talk/communicate again and says that he wants more kisses, puddling, and gatorade. His strength and determination to overcome his critical injuries are inspiring and model for all of us in our daily lives.
God has heard the prayes of JR's family, loved ones, friends, and those of us that look at JR a being one of our own (sort of like firemen look at their peers across the country as brothers). JR is living proof that God does answer prayers; so keep praying for his recovery.
On another note, these are not the best of economical times for many of use, but if you have not donated the fund that has been set up, even if it is only $25.00 please consider doing so. JR's family (wife and small children) depended on his income for support, which they have no lost for who know how long before he is able to do some sort of work again (remember, this tradegy could happened to any of us).

J.R. was taken out of intensive care today, moved to another part of the hospital. He's getting up out of bed and using a special walker, digestive track is now working enabling him to eat soft foods on a regular basis, and he continues to make great strides as to his recuperation. In a few more weeks he will be able to leave the burn center hospital, entering a physical therapy one. He's not out of the dark yet, so keep up the prayer's.
JR's wife/Jenny reads him the encouraging guest book comments posted on Caring Bridge every day by not only family and friends, but also the outpouring of support and prayers from people (mostly contractors in our industry) that don't know him personally. He takes great comfort in knowing that so many people are pulling and praying for him.
He must have a great crew, since they are holding the business together, getting the jobs done in a professional manner, while he is recovering.

Those poor people have been through so much, but they persevere. Some of us, myself included, have run into bumps in the road but obviously it can get much worse. Thanx for the updates Lindy...and keep 'em comin'. I get them in my email too, but it's good to have them on here. It's also good news that they have such a dependable crew that have kept the biz going.

The prayers of those from across the country have undoubtedly been heard and answered. JR is moving out of the intensive care burn unit of the hospital that he has been in for months, going to a 24 hour physical therapy treatment center close to home. He has been fitted for a prosthesis hand and will be acclimating to using it, as well as building up his body strength after so long a period of inactivity. His courage and "can do" never give up attitude is remarkable; JR has strived and overcome so many medical, physical, and even mental hurtles that were lurking in his way ... I'm truly in awe of this brave man.
