Thanx Lindy, encouraging as always. I overdid it today...I got to enjoy some engraving, got some work done, but as I went to get up from the slab I felt it go. Not good. I was laying on my side 'cause nobody could see me and it's pretty comfy to engrave that way for me...went to get up...felt like something ripped in there, sciatic pain is back like before...damn.

I'm not far behind I have to be very careful in everything myself. I felt a little tear the other day and that was scary. Anyhow I have to keep doing my exercises to strengthen my back.

My biggest problem lately is my right ankle. I broke it about a year ago. It was just getting better, about 3 months later, no longer in the boot like cast, when I stepped on an uneven surfaces, went sideways and severely sprained it (was way more painful than the break was), badly stretching ligaments (back in the boot). All this damage has caused me to have a very weak ankle ... sprained it again about 6 months ago, was just walking along when ankle went sideways. I know have supporting ankle brace that is thin enough to wear in a tennis shoe that I wear most of the time when I'm out and about. Doctor says that once an ankle has been injured as many times as mine has the ligaments have stretched out and will not go back to what they used to be.
My knees are not much better, they squeak and creek from years of crawling around on hard surfaces.... over the past 10 years or so I have worn knee pads, but the damage was already done from about 20 years when I rarely used them. I always thought that rolling knee pads would be great. They would have to have wheels that could be locked in place in two positions (north/south and east west) so that could roll along parallel to wall (in east/west position) or scoot across a floor (in north/south position). The rolling knee pads being about as long as a skateboard with cushioned/contoured surface that provides cushioned comfort for your knees and entire lower leg.
Oh well, sounds like we all need to go to a "body shop" (like we take our vehicles) for some new parts since we have worn the original ones out!

An ankle is a haunting injury...as you know. It never seems to go away. I have taken to using the kneepads as I get older too. Funny huh? I must look pretty rough with the way I move an work 'cause a customer commented on it today. I was only "stuper-vising" too. I like your idea about the wheelie pads...do 'em up and sell 'em online. I'll place my order!

It looks as if Harbor Freight has beat you two to the idea. The other day I was walking around at HF and saw a rolling knee pads type thing. harborfreighttools.com might have it. Also I saw this little gravity feed sandblaster that looked like a waterpistol. Sold for $20 but I did'nt get one. I almost did just to see if you could do some stencil stuff outside.Yeah, it would be messy but that's beside the point.

I talked to somebody the other day and they are familiar with this sandblast gun from Harborfreight and he uses it to evenly broadcast silica sand onto his sealers and epoxies.

I've never done any kind of broadcast method...always been rolled in. I've never been able to sell any epoxy, urethane or p.a.p. sealers here. Cheap buggers!

We've got all of our smaller jobs wrapped up, have a couple of more days left on that "curvy" job and then we can jump into placing an 88' driveway. It's one of those "Place n Pretty" deals...we'll go back after a month to stain and engrave it. It's rainin' like crazy today and cold like fall...hope summer isn't over.

I saw a picture the other day at Wal Mart on a puzzle and it looked nice. I looked at the picture up close to see where it was at and it said Nova Scotia. It looks like the English coast I was stationed at. You can punch in Newquay, Cornwall in England and see what I'm talking about. It's where they have the British surfing championships and considered the English Riviera. I fell in love with that place. Plus I am reading the book The Perfect Storm and I believe I saw in a lay out of their map and it had N.S. on it. Scary as far as the seas go there, I never liked the Atlantic nor any seas for that matter but especially since I've learned of Rouge waves in documentaries plus in this movie and book. I was once in rough seas while deep sea fishing in England and it was pretty neat seeing these huge rolling waves above us. BUT I was young and dumb in those days and did'nt know any better. Enough rambling for now, sorry.

I still plan on going deep sea fishing in Sept. but this is the Pacific ocean and more calm and less craziness. We just have to worry for the great whites, and there are lots in this area. One guy got killed about 2 or 3 months ago while swimming his daily workout down at the local beach. I have not been deep sea in years but have greatly missed it. We went whale watching a couple of months back but that's it. I am reminded of fishing often, every time I reel in my tape when measuring I tell myself "man I gotta go fishing". I think the last time I fished was on my honeymoon about 4 years ago. The wife reminded me today that Thursday was our anniversary. I would not have known at all if it was'nt for her telling me. Been so busy running around out here the way our economy is, that's all that has been on my mind lately. I'm rambling again.

Rambling is one of the reasons for having boards like this. I do enough of it for 6 people. ;D Looks like another cold and wet day here. I'll bet that pic you saw was of Peggy's Cove ...a small old fishing village tourist trap with lots of rocks? It looks nice and quaint I guess a lot of people come from far away to see it. I've often wondered if they're disappointed when they get there. Rogue waves can certainly change your trip for ya!
