This one could fit in so many of our threads I've been asked to stain and seal the floor of a friend's new cabana. It's not big, only about 250sqft. Straight color and seal...no sweat. So I gave my friend a pretty decent deal and we prepped the surface. It's still under construction so masking isn't an issue, but the windows and doors are still not in. It was power trowelled quite tight so we etched the surface too. So it's good to go as soon as it dries....3 days of rain...we go back today to check on it. Damn!! He had a portable compressor on the floor to run his air nailer and it skidded it's rubber feet all over the place. He also had tool oil in there that got knocked over and spilled all over the place. He also allowed his Grandkids to play in there and there's mud tracked all over the place. Unbelievable!! Now I gotta reprep and degrease the stupid thing. He's gonna hafta pay more now...that's only fair. He knows how important the prep is to the job. I told him.

Sorry, but your friend is just dumb. I have a customer that has done stupid stuff but I've been patient. We won't go there.

When care-less people have to pay for their mistakes the become more care-full in the future.

So how much should this little lesson cost? 250sqft of degreasing and reprepping on a job that was being "squeezed" in at a discount for someone I know. Hmmmm.

i would send a guy out to do the cleaning. this way your friend knows your paying, so is he. then hit him with labor and materials.
